Our History

In response to the escalating challenges of homeownership unavailability and the looming threats of gentrification and disinvestment in the historically black neighborhoods which comprise West Louisville, West End Community Land Trust (CLT) was founded with the mission to promote housing affordability, homeownership opportunities, and safeguard the community’s cultural heritage.

Recognizing the vital role of homeownership in fostering community resilience, West End CLT serves to empower residents with resources, knowledge, and support to acquire and retain affordable homes, while simultaneously providing wealth generation opportunities.

Through grassroots organizing, advocacy, and innovative partnerships, West End CLT pioneers sustainable solutions to ensure that the community remains a vibrant and inclusive space for generations to come.

Who We Serve

West End CLT aims to primarily serve the following groups who may face challenges in accessing affordable housing:

  1. Low- to Moderate-Income Individuals and Families

  2. First-Time Homebuyers

  3. Seniors

  4. Minorities

  5. Local Workers

  6. Individuals at Risk of Displacement

We operate in nine neighborhoods that comprise the West End of Louisville, KY: California, Chickasaw, Russell, Shawnee, Parkland, Park Hill, Park Duvalle, Portland, and Limerick.

Our Services

West End CLT does not "flip" homes in the traditional sense of buying and selling for profit. Instead, we acquire, rehabilitate, and resell homes with a focus on maintaining long-term affordability and community benefit.

Our homes are priced affordably through various mechanisms that aim to separate the cost of the land from the cost of the house.

Moreover, through subsidized financing, support for low-income buyers, and permanent affordability strategies, West End CLT creates opportunities for individuals and families to overcome financial barriers and achieve sustainable homeownership.
